Sticker App Sample Kit

PERMISA mi ciela! Today I have the pleasure to talk about the Sticker App Sample Kit and simplify the whole chapter with a few observations and comparatives of their multiple sticker products. Also, I did a merch review years ago from them with their regular thick sticker.

They are offering a simple pack of most of their sticker products available in their store for just $2, which is sent via mail envelope. The compact package is around 4in and the sizes of the 22 stickers (I received a duplicate from the clear one) vary, the biggest is approximately 3.5in, and the smallest one (3d dome sticker) is about 1 inch.

Funny instructions.
Stickers full of personality.

I have 2 observations about this sample kit: the package has a personality for fun times, and the contents are big for better appreciation and understanding of their products.

The only products that were not part of the sample kit were the kiss cut, hang-tag stickers, sticker sheet, front adhesive sticker, floor sticker, wall sticker, and glow sticker. Most of these are printed with a white spot (white ink on vinyl films that are not white, for example, holographic vinyl), so most of these look promising with my designs.

Getting Confused By Identifying the Films?

There are so many types of holographic (including the transparent with different patterns) that can be overwhelming, or yet, disappoint you once you chose the wrong vinyl for your stickers. One way to identify holographic from aluminum ones is in the subtle rainbow tone or reflection it emits, especially under the light source.

Values chart of most of the special vinyls.

Values Charts

These tools are helpful when it comes to researching and choosing the right product for your merch. These help you identify visually how the color quality will be affected according to the company’s materials and printer settings.

Above you can see these amazing values with their respective sticker materials. I know it’s not the same to view them from a monitor vs. in your hand, so I urge you to buy the sample pack if interested. The stand-alone values chart had the flashlight on to see the intensity of the holographic versions.

I’m not sure why mirror and holographic glossy values were not included in the package. Would’ve loved to see the shinier version of these 2 without the matte effect.

What’s So Special About Them?

I found the mirror vinyl fascinating, and I’m pretty sure you could achieve some amazing rainbowish gold effect with the holographic one, instead of the aluminum standard gold. Both have reflection, although the aluminum sticker is more subtle, while with the holographic sticker, my finger is pretty much blurred out entirely.

To Be Or Not To Be?

The dilemma of choosing between glossy or matte, which one should be the best route for you? It depends on what you want to achieve and what is flexible regarding expenses. Just in case, I did breakdown of how both films affect the sticker’s color quality if you want to understand it better.

Remember that glossy makes the stickers more shiner due to the smooth coating that produces a white reflection thanks to the light source. Contrary to matte there is no reflection and the coating has a sublet smooth texture, partially like kraft paper, but much softer.

This is very important to highlight, the contrast between glossy and matte.

Transparency All The Way

Clear stickers are my favorite, there is something special about them, especially when you can choose between a solid color or gradient for a cool effect. One thing that I did observe is that they can be easily misprinted, especially if missing pixels are in your design or file. Below, you can see how blurry the object becomes once distant from the sticker (not that it matters once the sticker is glued on a surface).

Definitively I will be trying a few transparent stickers with solid colors and gradients for my Rumberitas. I was glad this was not the case with a frosted transparent sticker like Sticker Ninja offers. I did try once the frosted transparent sticker from a regular store, and since I didn’t operate with a special printer that managed white spots, the results were not convincing.

Special Perks

I do appreciate the fact that you can explore this sample, not just visually, but also physically. It’s very easy to understand with the playful messages, font hierarchy, and brief explanation messages on the backside. The only sticker left to explain is the “removable” one, which is self-explanatory. I removed it several times from different surfaces and came out easily without wrinkles.
